Eliza Holliday.....Letterist

I began my lettering life as a calligrapher,
using handlettering
for wedding invitations and one-of-a-kind retirement resolutions,
but my interest in design drew me back to commercial art
school to train as an illustrator and designer.....and to the
brush as a tool. The range of my activities with the alphabet
has lead me to the term "letterist" I am a lettering artist,
illustrating with letters. From the slogan on a cereal package
to a logo for a local coffee shop, from book cover designs to
chalkboards for restaurants, I'm interested in solving the
problems of people who want the personal quality and
original touch of hand lettering.

I have always taught my craft, and after twenty years on
the workshop and conference circuit, I formalized my teaching
in a book I co-authored with Marilyn Reaves called Brush
Lettering; an Instructional Manual in Western Brush Lettering.
I have also had my lettering or artwork in Letter Arts Review,
Print magazine, The Creative Stroke by Richard Emery,
The Art and Craft of Hand Lettering by Annie Cicale for
Lark Books, and Art of Seeing by Zalanski/Fisher
