To continue study in edged brush, this workshop introduces brush versions of these two familiar manuscript alphabets, UNCIAL and BLACKLETTER. Students can bring their pen experience with these two alphabets and redesign them with this larger flexible tool, which gives them a more contemporary feel. Both of these "display" alphabets work very well for banners and large signs, and our class assignments will focus on this type of project. Brush lettering on fabric will be experienced by working our warm-up marks on various fabrics. We also do some improvisational play with these alphabets and stay loose!
