To introduce the pointed brush, we will work from an italic model, borrow from our own hand-writing and develop a personal, expressive brush script. Casual brush caps will also be introduced. Gestures, doodles and pattern borders will help new students get used to this flexible tool before the actual demand of making letters. We will compare the leading brands of pointed brushes and which ones are best for lettering. The focus will be on achieving hand/eye coordination and rhythm with this pressure-sensitive tool.
