A one-day workshop for educators and
anyone with works a lot with children;
we make eight different small bookforms,
including the binding of the handouts into a
book. The idea is to promote literacy for kids
or teens by encouraging them to make, write
or illustrate their own books. The emphasis
will be on being able to make these books
with inexpensive tools and recycled materials
when possible. Bookbinding nomenclature is
used and bookbinding principles are
communicated, building a base for further
study in bookbinding. Fun projects for using
the books, developed by classroom teachers,
are suggested. Pre-cut materials, tools, such
as scissors and stickglue, and handouts with
instructions are provided. My fee for teaching this
workshop is 450.00, which includes supplies,
simple tools and the instructional handouts.
Class size is limited to fifteen people.
